Sometimes I forget that I'm Pregnant

I am realizing that one of the reasons why people wait to tell others is because it takes awhile to get used to the idea yourself.
I still forget sometimes.
I don't have a baby bump to remind me, and I am sure that once I do, it will become more real.
There are a lot of reasons why we decided to tell our families early (well, three actually)
1st: I am on my parent's insurance still. Since they scanned my insurance card when we got tested, we figured they would either find out from us, or from the insurance company. So we told them first.
2nd:  It was hard to explain why I was always so tired and not feeling up to eating to Jason's family because we live so close
3rd: We were really excited.
After we told them, they wanted to tell everyone else, and so we decided to tell everyone first
I was having a conversation with a friend that I hadn't seen in a while, and when they mentioned that they had seen that I was expecting, it took me a while to realize exactly what they meant.
I felt like a terrible mother-to-be.
As the day gets closer, I get more and more excited, and it gets easier and easier to picture having a baby in our home!

Jason's Post

Well yesterday (Jan. 7, 2012) we found out Ashley is pregnant.  We don’t know HOW pregnant she is... just that a little stick she urinated on says she is.  ha ha jk.  Anyway, we have had so many scares in the past where one or the other has thought we may be pregnant.

Since we have been married we have had to include a new budget for pregnancy tests.  Towards the end of our first month of marriage Ashley made us buy one because she thought she had missed her period... but in reality it was a week away.   But she talked me into it.  Each month has gone down a little bit like that with some variations of some sort.

(insert) tell them about how I grew up with brothers so this whole thing is so new and different to me... (periods, mood swings, and maybe not so descriptive... so those who know, Know and those that don’t,,,, don’t ask questions)

However, this last month was quite different, but i didn’t really notice, my being a guy and all.
A few things tipped me off that Ashley was a little different.
We spent a couple of weeks in her parents basement (thank you so much Alanis Family) to finish up with work before transferring up to USU.  But as we went to church one day, Sister Green looked at Ashley and said, “She has ‘The Look’ about her.”  Meaning she thought Ashley was pregnant.  I thought it was an odd statement but entertaining. So we spent the rest of the day having a good laugh about it making jokes and thinking it was jolly funny.

The next prominent thing that sticks out is the French Fry story.   Ashley and I traveled to Rexburg to visit my Grandpa Jensen (95) and Grandma Jensen (94).  We only stayed for one night but had a lot of fun talking with my grandparents about their lives and their mission. We also helped them clean out their fridge/freezer. (this is another story I’ll have to tell later... Grandma is going blind and can’t see very well.  Sometimes they can’t see if something has gone bad in the fridge or not.  My Grandpa is a hard worker and tries to keep everything good but there is only so much you can do at that age.) Everything seemed normal to me about Ashley; smiling all the time beautiful eyes and always kind and sharing.  It’s abnormal for Ashley not to be.  She had been saying she was feeling kind of sick/nauseous but I didn’t think much about it.

Anyway, we head out the front door to go home and Ashley is feeling a little worn out so I volunteer to drive so she curls and takes a nap.

After she wakes up, we need to get some gas so we pull of in Pocatello to get some.  As we approach the exit, Ashley says she wants some french fries.  At first I say “No, we need to save money and really who needs french fries when we are an hour away from home.” This was not the right answer (especially looking back and knowing she is pregnant.. ha ha).  I got “the look”. So I broke down and told her we should get some snacks inside the gas station convenience store.   We went into the Gas Station and walked around all of the candy bars, snacks, chips and drinks when she finally piped up and said, “Jason, nothing here looks good. I want french fries.” I couldn’t believe it. A convenience store full of trail mix, candybars, sandwiches, drinks, hot dogs, and more and nothing sounds as good as french fries?  We went out to the car with empty hands.  I was about to drive off when ashley became distraught that she did not have any french fries.  If it were anyone else I would have just ignored them or told them to tuff it out but it was My Ashley and she is started crying because she didn't have them.  (This is all new to me... girly emotions and thinking emotionally)

She has to have her french fries and in fact had already marked the Artic Circle next door as the place she would get her french fries.  With my wife sobbing about french fries we pulled up to the drive through where Ashley perked up a bit.  We ordered french fries and she became as happy as a rainbow in the middle of summer.  I figured out that these must be those “food cravings” that men tell other men about.  I figured then that Ashley was probably pregnant.
(the next day we went to Wal-mart and purchased 3 test strips to see if she was) The baby in the picture is my niece, Myaih.

8-17-2012

We are so excited for the rest of the world to know about our little bundle of joy that's a brewin' in Ashley's Belly! :) We weren't planning on telling people for a little while longer, but having all of our family around us this weekend showed to be the  perfect opportunity. We surprised them with a little powerpoint I put together highlighting Jason and I's story, and ending with a bang! While our special little was slightly unexpected, we couldn't be happier, and know that our Heavenly Father has a special little spirit ready to come down to our new little family at this time for a wonderful reason, and we couldn't be more thrilled.

One bedroom apartment

So Jason and I discovered that we were expecting about a week after signing a 12 month contract for a one bedroom apartment.
(and it's definitely not big enough for 3 of us)
Luckily, it's pretty easy to get out of the lease...
but the question is when do we move?

6 months?
Just move now?
Spring break?

We'll see! But for now, I love daydreaming about baby rooms :)

Here's an idea for if it's a boy:

(some people are so creative... LOVE the book wall and the ceiling)

and then here's my favorite girl's room:

(Chandelier!! and the mirror dresser! So girly!)

This one is darling too... and could be fairly gender neutral.

These are the things I think about these days...
Seriously, Life is couldn't get any better!

Funny thing...

Jase and I actually started this blog after thinking that i was acting funny (He has written the whole story down, and will most likely be posting in a few days). I have taken a pregnancy test almost every month since we  have been married, just because I am paranoid like that.

BUT! Just to be safe, we ran down to wal-mart to grab a pregnancy test... and... Suprise!!

This little lady is going to be a mamma. Jason is going to be a daddy.

BAHHHHHHHHHHH

I am so excited/scared/nervous/crying all the time/ mostly just blown out of my mind HAPPY to be blessed enough to give birth to a little miracle that will be all mine, and all Jason's. I am so blessed to have him as a husband, who ever since we found out doesn't stop hugging, talking to or blowing little kisses to my tummy! He is going to be such a great daddy, and I am so excited to be going through this time of life with him.

p.s. this is a post that I thought I had published already, but I thought wrong :)

Official!

Well, after the initial shock of finding out from an at-home pregnancy test that I was maybe going to be a mommy, Jason and I have officially gone into a doctor, and gotten the news back that we are indeed pregnant!

I am 4 weeks along.
which means my baby is the size of the tip of a pen... haha. Barely there, but oh so there.

The hard thing is that nobody knows! I am so excited, I feel like I should be telling everyone, but due to the fact that there are a lot of things that can happen in the first few months, Jason and I have decided not to tell anyone yet, and just get out all of our excitement on this blog! This way, when the news is new to you, you can be excited with us!

I have scheduled an appointment with Doctor David Kirkman up here in Logan for February 11th (My 8 week mark) and that is the day Jason and I decided that we are going to tell everyone!

I am not really feeling any side effects of pregnancy yet... just a little nauseous, and very tired and always hungry, but other than that... it's been Normal!

This is so dang exciting! The funny thing is that Jase and I have already narrowed down the names for if it's a boy or a girl, but I think I will wait until another post to share that.

The experience is a little unexpected, but Jason and I both feel that our Heavenly Father is sending this special little baby to us now for a reason, and have felt the holy ghost confirming that it is his timing, and if I have learned anything in this life, it is that his timing is always right. I am a little scared, but I know with my Father in Heavens help and example, that my best will be enough. He will make up for my shortcomings.

Pre-post.

So everyone seems to be blogging about babies.
I don't have a baby.
I can tell you, though, that I have had several false alarms in the 7 months (crazy!) that we have been married. This blog is a documentation of the journey towards our future family...
and all of the hilarious mishaps along the way.
I am learning that you have to laugh at yourself along the way of this crazy thing called life.

Laugh with us!

I have a feeling that you will be able to tell the difference in who is writing. I have developed a very distinct way of blogging, and I like it. Jason, has his own awesome way of doing things however, and I am sure that you will be able to pick apart who is writing what.
